Sweden’s indie rock trio, Junip, are busy preparing new music for their sophomore album. With the critically acclaimed Fields under their belt, along with a few movie and commercial credits, this little known band sure gets around. However, their upcoming album could very well change that. If the album’s recently released lead single, Line of Fire, is any indicator, then we are definitely in store for a solid release.
This song begins on a relatively sleepy note. Gentle guitar stings and Jose Gonzalez’s smooth, dreamy delivery make this song sound, initially, kind of dull. However, as the song progresses, it begins to build momentum and pick up speed before ultimately spreading its wings and taking flight. This song soars on tender and emotional vocals, and an uplifting arrangement of strings and synths. At the song’s four minute mark, everything comes to a head as the song flourishes into something truly beautiful.
Line of Fire’s dreamy atmosphere definitely makes it a great chillout song, with just enough life in it to grab your attention. It’s definitely a fantastic breath of fresh air, and well worth a listen. I don’t know much about this band, but Line of Fire has me wanting to discover more about them.
Final Score: 4/5
