The Verdict on Idol: Top 9 Results

I knew that this would be an exciting results show. They always are after a good round of performances. Since each contestant truly delivered, and the judges handed out standing ovations like they were in
overstock, I knew we could expect a surprise or two. Possibly even the dreaded shocker elimination!

Unfortunately, there were relatively no surprises aside from the fact that Nicki Minaj didn’t have a nip-slip. Seriously, she was jiggling around more than a jello mold in a earthquake.

Anyway, our bottom three was…

Hollie Cavanaugh, who would have been a shicker about two weeks ago. Her act is running dry, and I’m counting down the days until she gets Pia’ed. With Elise suddenly finding herself in this competition, Hellie should feel threatened. The clock is ticking girl…do something!

HeeJun is the second person to be called out into the bottom 3. While I was really hoping that he would have found his foothold in the competition, it seemed that it was a case of too little too late.

Finally, its between Skylar Laine and Deandre Brackensick for the last spot. At that point, I knew that it was Skylar’s turn. Its something that doesn’t make much sense, but it seems to fit as the shocker that we were all waiting for. I guess.

And our Idol that has sung their last is none other than….

Hee Jun Han

Even though he really nailed his song last night, HeeJun just couldn’t motivate the voters to keep him around. HeeJun is a great singer, but looking back at his journey, its clear that voice alone didn’t carry him to 9th place. His quirky personality really helped him. He was a delight to have on the show, but it was clear that his lack of star quality would have eventually caught up to him. It did this week, and now I wish HeeJun well on his way! I honestly hope that is he wants to continue a career in music, that he does so in South Korea, because there he will be able to make a name on singing slow, soulful ballads.
